What is a Minecraft Pixelmon server?
Pixelmon is the original Pokemon mod for Minecraft, running on Forge. Installing Pixelmon and matching the version
Pixelmon is a Forge mod and the server tells you which version to run. The official launcher and the CurseForge or Modrinth pack both install it, and joining with a different Pixelmon version fails immediately. Servers usually list the Minecraft version, the Pixelmon version and the modpack name together for exactly this reason.
Gyms, the Elite Four and player run leagues
The mod supports badges and gym mechanics, and most servers build a full league on top: player gym leaders with fixed type teams, badge requirements to challenge the next tier, and an Elite Four at the end.
