Most lifesteal servers start everyone at ten hearts and let your maximum climb without limit. Hit zero and you are eliminated, which usually means a temporary ban rather than a permanent one. Servers normally sell or craft a revive item, so an eliminated player can be brought back by a friend who is willing to spend one.

Why lifesteal changes how people play survival

Because your health bar is currency, every fight has a stake that a normal survival server does not have. Players hoard hearts, run in groups, and treat an ambush as an investment.
