Licence, data and attribution
What you may take from this site, what belongs to somebody else, and who we credit for the data we did not measure ourselves.
The rankings are free to reuse
Everything we measure is published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. That covers the ranking order, the vote totals, the player counts we ping for, the uptime history and the country each address resolves to. Use it in an app, a bot, a video or a competing list. The only condition is credit.
Endpoint
GET /api/rankings.json returns the top 100 servers with rank, name, address, featured flag, the basis of that rank, live status, player count, the basis of that count, votes this month and the gamemodes each server is listed under. No key, no signup, no quota.
Attribution
Credit reads: Rankings from Minecraft Best Servers. A visible link back to the site satisfies the licence. If you are reproducing a single server's figures, link that server's listing rather than the homepage.
Caching
The payload changes when our ping data changes, roughly every five minutes. Cache for at least two minutes and send If-None-Match so you are not refetching an unchanged body.
What the licence does not cover
Server names, logos, banners, icons and descriptions belong to the server owners, not to us. We host them so the list is usable, and we relicense none of them. Our own logo and site design are not covered either.
Server owners: your listing
Listing a server grants us permission to display the name, icon, banner and description you supply, and to ping the address you gave us. Nothing more. Delete the listing and the display right goes with it.
Badges
The live badge at /badge/your-slug.svg is yours to embed anywhere, including on a page that sells ranks. It is generated per request from the same data as the listing, so it cannot show a number the listing does not.
IP location data
Country locations come from the DB-IP IP-to-Country Lite database, used under CC BY 4.0. IP Geolocation by DB-IP. We resolve addresses ourselves and look up the result locally, so no visitor or server address is sent to a third party.

Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang AB. This site is not an official Minecraft service, is not approved by or associated with Mojang or Microsoft, and lists third-party servers that Mojang does not operate.
