Modded servers run a modpack, which means you install the same pack before you connect. In exchange you get machines, magic systems and progression that the base game does not have.

Install the exact modpack the server lists, using CurseForge, the Modrinth app, the FTB launcher or Prism depending on where the pack lives, launch the game through that pack, then add the server address as normal. The pack version has to match the server, not just the pack name.

For playing on one, four to six gigabytes allocated to the client covers most packs, and heavier expert packs want eight. Hosting is a different question and depends on the pack and player count far more than on the player count alone.

Copy the IP address of the server you want. Open Minecraft, click Multiplayer, then Add Server. Paste the address into the server address field, click Done, then select the server and press Join Server.

We currently list 80 Modded Minecraft servers. Every one is status-pinged from our own infrastructure every five minutes, so the player counts are measured rather than supplied by the owner.

The numbered list is ordered by the votes players cast during the current calendar month, with a small number of editorially placed picks at the top. Featured servers carry a star instead of a number and sit above the list. Votes reset on the first of every month so a newer server can climb.

Yes. Every Modded server here is free to join. You need a Minecraft account and the server address, nothing else. Some servers sell optional ranks or cosmetics, but playing costs nothing.

Some do. A server that accepts Bedrock clients is tagged Bedrock or Cross-Play on its listing. Java-only servers cannot be joined from a phone, console or the Windows edition without the owner running a bridge.

Each listing shows the version our last successful ping reported. Many servers accept a range of clients rather than a single version, so check the listing before you switch profiles.

Create a free account and click Add Server. Your server has to be online while we check it, because we confirm the address answers a real status ping before the listing goes live. Listing is free and it is never a condition of ranking.

No. Voting only asks for your Minecraft username and a quick verification check. You can vote once every 24 hours per server, and if the owner has connected Votifier the reward reaches you in game straight away.

We send our own status ping to every listed address every five minutes and record the reply. If a server has not answered in the last 30 minutes we show the last successful reading and label it as last seen, rather than presenting an old number as if it were live.
